Why Most Audiences Will Love Timothy Green

Winner winner, chicken dinner... and a movie. That's right, I entered a giveaway on local San Antonio blogger's ¿Que Means What? for 4 tickets to an advanced screening to The Odd Life of Timothy Green and actually won! I was ecstatic. So on Monday I took my sister, who, like a champ, held our seats while my mom (coming from her last round of chemo (yay!)), dad and I raced to the theater just in the nick time. Minus the intensity of getting to our seats, the overcrowded theater and my lack of knowledge about the movie, Timothy Green's story has captured my heart. I believe it will capture the heart of many...

Like most Disney movies, any family can sit, watch and not have to worry about their child seeing something they shouldn't. It's funny for both adults and kids (not just a word like "booty" getting thrown around, kids laughing hysterically funny). The character development starts at the beginning and by the end you know them. You are them. You want them to be your neighbors. Etc.

Great family morals like trust, honesty and encouragement are portrayed through "real-life" situations like hospital scenes, bullying, friendships, parenthood, and layoffs.

I believe children will love the magical aspect of the movie and Timothy's thirst for childhood. Parents will love the characters and the rawness of their struggles and imperfection. Single and 23, aside from the innocence of Timothy and the love that the parents have for him I found myself absolutely obsessed with the wardrobe... Let's talk about Fall Fashion 2012 and dwell for a moment on Jennifer Garner's attire. Mix and match patterns, materials and layer like crazy. The boys can get a feel too. I fell in love with Tim's outfits scrawny legs and all, and Jim Green was just the right amount of comfy, casual and yes-you're-gonna-love- him cool.

Overall my sister, parents and I were thoroughly impressed with the movie. My dad was impressed that not one curse word was uttered and my mom was impressed that she didn't fall asleep. Granted my parents tend to have a less opinionated approach to movie watching, I found the fact that they both wanted to go back and see it again noteworthy.

Did I cry? Yes
Did I laugh? Yes
Would I see it again? Yes, and probably next week with my little sister
Date night? Yes

Go see it! The Odd Life of Timothy Green hits theaters today! (August 15)

  1. I'm going to show your list to some of my daughters :) And then make a equally great list on why I like being married.

You are an encouragement to me as I parent a house full of girls that I hope become Wholly God's as they continue to grow.
